Blind Leading the Blind

Professing Christians are convinced that they are enlightened, that they have the truth. They are aggressive in their work to draw as many people as they can into their view of the gospel, with complete confidence that they have the only way to salvation, not realizing that they are blind and naked. They teach a lawless, do nothing gospel, advocating it as light, as they lead their blind followers into the same lawless gospel that they have embraced. They go around spreading their lies, not realizing that they are in great darkness, just like the blind people that they are trying to induce to embrace their lawless gospel of darkness. Mainstream Christians advocate a Christianity that has nothing to do with historical biblical Christianity. They are like the people that John referred to when he talked about the people who would not come into the light because their deeds were evil (John 3: 19-21). What is different about the mainstream Christians is that they advocate a gospel apart from God's moral law, and they brag about their continual living in sin. Paul addressed this same attitude in the Jews when they thought that in spite of their inwardly rebellious condition, they were right with God because they were Abraham's descendants, saying:

There are many rebellious people, talkers and deceivers, especially of the circumcision group. They must be silenced because they are ruining whole households, by teaching things they ought not to teach, for the sake of dishonest gain. Rebuke them sharply so they will be sound in the faith, and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the commands of those who reject the truth. To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and don't believe the truth nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for doing anything good.

The mainstream Christians are much like these Jews, who thought that they were enlightened to lead the blind. They (mainstream Christians) teach a gospel of disobedience, claiming that no one can obey God, and that if anyone tries to obey Him they will fall away from grace and go straight to hell. They call it “the impossible gospel,” and try to convince people to view a commitment to live in obedience to God as impossible. They teach swelling words of emptiness, promising freedom while they are ensnared by depravity. They give license to do what out not be done, to receive schemes that were not instructed by God, turning repentance into a trifling decision, a classification rather than a transformation. It is merely an acknowledgment of your depraved condition, and disallows any commitment to obey God's moral law. God's command to genuinely repent seems to be one of the hardest, if not the hardest, to persuade people to obey. Genuine repentance carries with it the commitment to live in obedience to God. Luke 13:3 teaches, “…unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”  Acts 17:30 instructs, “God… now commands all men everywhere to repent.”

True repentance involves a godly sorrow and is proven by deeds (Acts 26: 20). Some people believe that if you feel bad, then that is enough and God will accept you. However, godly sorrow alone, in and of itself, is not repentance, but it leads to repentance if we allow it to, because it produces in you an eagerness and earnestness to be cleared with God (2 Cor 7:10,11). Godly sorrow is not sorrow because one has been caught in his or her sin. Godly sorrow comes from knowing that I have sinned against God and I am grieved by the separation from God that the sin has caused, and that I am committed to obey Him from now on, and prove my repentance by stopping my sinning. But the professing Christians are told by their pastors week after week that they can't stop sinning because they are born sinners. Their consciences soon become dulled because they don't take their sin seriously. They are taught not to take their sin seriously because they now wear the cloak of Jesus' righteousness, and that releases them from trying to obey God. Jesus obeyed for them, they are told, and any efforts they extend is mixing grace with works, which will send them to hell. They are admonished to wait for God to come and change their hearts. It is wrong to try to obey God, they are told by their spiritual leaders. His way is to do it for you. All you have to do is trust in Jesus' magical moral transfer of His righteousness, and just rest in Him. To do anything yourself to obey God is rejecting Jesus' finished work on the cross, and trying to do things in your own strength.

So, mainstream Christians live their lives like they want, totally disregarding their sin. They think that they can live their lives in sin and debauchery and still go to heaven, and they go out aggressively trying to indoctrinate others to embrace their supposed light, which is really darkness. They don't have true faith, but only the faith of devils, taught by their pastors that it's not of works, no one is perfect and you can't judge anyone. They're the Roman's wretch, the chief of sinners, and they brag about it. Their pastors don't teach them the Bible's teaching that God is going to render each person according to their deeds (Rev. 2: 23) (Rev. 22: 12-15)(Matt.16: 27)(Romans 2: 4-10). They're the blind leading the blind, false teachers who promise freedom but who are themselves “slaves of depravity” (2 Peter 2:1-3,18-22).
